About Ezra

Ezra Gennello is the Director of Communications and Broadcasting for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League (USHL). He serves as the team’s play-by-play voice, manages media relations, writes press releases and game recaps, and oversees digital and social media content.

Before joining the Lumberjacks, Gennello was the broadcaster for the Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), where he also earned his USA Hockey Coaching Certification and gained experience coaching the Generals Academy 18U and 16U teams.

A graduate of Franklin Pierce University, Gennello earned his degree in Sports Media while working with the Ravens Sports Network and the university’s Athletic Communications Office. During his time there, he called more than 150 broadcasts across multiple sports, including three conference championships, and was part of the crew that earned a Student Emmy Award for its coverage of the 2022 NCAA Division I NEWHA Championship.

Gennello’s background in sports extends beyond broadcasting. He played hockey from age six through the junior level with the New Jersey Renegades of the Eastern Hockey League and also worked with the Trenton Thunder, then the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, where he gained experience in fan engagement, promotions, and front-office operations.
